Memorial Day Weekend - Fun, Sun, & Friends

We had no plans for the holiday weekend. I actually figured that we would end up just hanging around the house and having people over to swim. Friday night we went to Pawnee for Kendall's Football Game and got home pretty late so I slept in Saturday morning. Chris went golfing, Kendra had to work, Kendall was still in Pawnee & Kaleb was at the lake. It was nice to have the house all to myself for awhile. After I got up I messed around the house for a while and then headed out to mess around in the yard. When Chris got home we got in the pool and waited on Kendra to get off work and come home.

Chris and one of our dogs (Odie) playing in the pool.

At this point we still had no plans for the weekend. Kaleb had called the night before,  he was at Kaw lake with the Kilian Klan and drove over to visit the Cink's, so he and Kristi call me asked us to come over there. I really didn't think we would, but I mentioned it to Chris while we were swimming. He didn't say a whole lot about it so I thought ok we will just stay home. Kendra got off work early so she was able to get in some pool time before dark. I mentioned to her about the lake and she thought it was a good idea. So we loaded up the car and headed out. Of course we had to stop at our favorite restaurant "Los Postros" on the way to the lake.

Chris & Kendra goofing off at Los Postros!

We got to Chad and Kristi's just before dark. They were all outside on the patio and had a camp fire going. We just sat around and talked and played with the kids. It was nice and relaxing. No T.V., no cooking, & no cleaning or yard work. (Even though I love to clean and do yard work it is nice to have a break every once and a while)

Me & Brooklyn!

Kendra & Kristi Making fun of Chris because he kept falling asleep.

Sunday morning we just kinda took our time getting around, made some breakfast, then it was time for fun in the sun. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shinning and there wasn't much wind. It was a perfect lake day! Just shortly after we got to the beach Kendall called. Him, Duncan, and Duncan's girlfriend were at Chad and Kristi's. They drove over and surprised us. It was so fun having the entire family there for the day. We played in the boat for a while, then we docked at Sandy beach and meet up with so many people that we know. It was good to see people that we hadn't seen in a long time. We had a great day on the lake but I got way too much sun. You would think that since I'm almost 40 I would know better than that and would have put on sunscreen but no not me. We headed back to the house and made some supper and just hung out around the house until everyone went to bed.

Monday morning every got around a lot slower. Everyone was sore and sun burnt. We ate breakfast, sat around, visited, and watched the kids play. We got around and Chris, Kendra, and I headed back home. The boys stayed and went back out on the lake for a while. Of course we stopped back by Los Potros to eat before coming home and doing absolutely nothing. All in all it was a spontaneous but fabulous week-end. Thanks Chad , Kristi, Brooklyn, & Colton .

Kendall's All-Star Football Game

I know that it's Saturday but this is my post for Friday. I had to post it today because we didn't get home until late last night. Our youngest son Kendall was selected to play in the Pawnee Bill All-Star Football Classic in Pawnee. Kendall graduated this May. It is going to be quit different around here now that we don't have anymore kids in Elementary or High School. I can honestly say that I am ready for it though. This is just one more chapter in our lives and I welcome it with open arms.
I dropped Kendall off in Pawnee on Tuesday for a weeks worth of practice. I was really excited for Kendall to meet new friends and most of all re-connect with an old friend. When we lived in Pond Creek, Kendall had a best friend that he did everything with. Duncan moved to Pawnee when the boys were in 4th grade. They did stay in contact after Duncan moved. They would visit each other for the weekends and talk on the phone. Then we moved to Texas and they just kinda drifted apart.
Anyway when Kendall found out the game was in Pawnee he called Duncan to see if he could stay with him since there was no housing for the players. Of course Duncan said yes and the great thing is that Duncan was playing in the game too & the boys were the same team. How perfect! And Perfect it was. You know that you are truly good friends when you can go years without seeing each other and pick-up right where you left off.
Kendall & Duncan Nelson.

The kick-off was at 7:30P.M. so we pulled out of town around 4:30. We had a car load. Chris & me, Rob (my cousin), Chad &; Kristina Burnham (Kendall's H.S. Football coach and his wife)
Kendall & Chad Burnham (Medford H.S. Football Coach)

Me, Kendall, & Chris.

The White team was Victorious.
We went to Stillwater to eat at Eskimo Joe's then it was off to the game. Kendall played well & looked like he was having a good time. He played Offensive Receiver. Kendall's team won 20 to 17.

Doggie ride

Oh man did today ever make up for yesterday. I had such a relaxing day yesterday, but today was a day of work, work, work! I got up at 6:00 a.m. (even though I had the day off) I know, I know, what the heck was I thinking. I really can't tell you, I just got up like I was on a mission, and well I guess I was. I started with the laundry and the house. Then I took a break and ran to Pond Creek to go to the bank. But that didn't last long. When I got home I started on the yard. Yes, Yes, I know, I LOVE yard work. But I guess I just wasn't ready for the heat! I do believe Summer is here! I decided not to work out tonight since I worked my boodie off in the yard. It sure looks good though, & the pool felt pretty good too.
Kendall is still in Pawnee at football practice & Kaleb is working in Texas for the rest of the week, so it was just Chris & me for supper. We decided to grill out for supper and I might say it was pretty darn good. After supper we kinda snuggled into our spots & I thought that we were done for the evening until Chris said, "Let's go for a ride." If you know Chris & I, you will know that we love just to get in the truck and drive. (Country roads mostly) We love to ride around on the red dirt roads, listen to music, & look for Deer.(And what ever else we can find) Usually we just go by ourselves but today we decided to take the doggie's. We haven 't taken them on a ride since last summer so they thought they were hot stuff.
We have two dogs, Kloie & Odie. They both are quite the sight. We got Kloie first. When Kendall brought her home the first thing that I said was " Kendall she is so UGLY!" Kendall insisted that she would be a good dog & she has been. She was very easy to potty train & she knows how to read people. She will definatly protect her family. We like to call her our little spider monkey! She looks a lot like one of those flying monkey's off of "The Wizard of Oz."
And then there is Odie! Odie is a funny sight. He is part English Bulldog/Weiner Dog. He looks like a Weiner Dog on Steroids. We got him about a month after we got Kloie. The funny thing is that Kloie is Kendall's & Odie is Kendra's but they both live with me. Odie has been a great dog too. His personality is pretty hard to beat.
Ok & then we have puppy. Odie and Kloie had puppies. This is their second litter. With the first litter I got way too attached, so this time I promised I wouldn't do it again. That's why Puppy doesn't have a name. She is the only one that we haven't been able to get rid of. Everyone keeps telling me if I potty train it they will take it.Guess what? I potty trained my own dogs! Anyways we have a total of 3 dogs with one up for adoption ASAP!
We had a wonderful ride and the dog really enjoyed it. (more than Chris & Me I think) I have posted a few pictures of our ride. Enjoy! I did.

No picture's, just words

What a great day today was. I didn't have to work today so I was able to sleep-in which felt so good. Usually I wake up around 6:45 A.M. and today I got to sleep till 9:45 A.M. Chris always says he has it harder because he gets up at 6:00 and I get to stay in bed, but really He should think about the hour that he falls asleep in the chair before he finally decides to go to bed. Then after he goes to bed I am still up till at least 11 or 12. Men! What is kinda funny is that as I am writing this blog I can hear him snoring from the bedroom. If I was really a brat I would go in there and record him and then post it on my blog for all of you to enjoy, but I will save you the misery.
After waking up I had to start getting Kendall packed for his week in Pawnee. He was selected to play in the Pawnee Bill All Star Football Classic. Kendall got on the phone and called up an old friend who graduated from Pawnee this year. Kendall and Duncan were the best of friends when they both lived in Pond Creek. They did every thing together. Duncan moved away first, then we moved away when Kendall was in the 5th grade. Of course Duncan said "come on down, you can stay with me." And the big kicker is that they both are playing in the game and they are both on the same team! I called Kendall around 10:00 tonight and he was having a ball. They were all out at the lake hanging out at Duncan's trailer. You know you have a good friend when you don't see each other for years and you can pick up right where you left off.
After dropping Kendall off I headed back home. I was really pretty tired but I decided to get off my rear end and go work out. Man am I ever out of shape. I just hate getting old. I was however able to run/walk 2 miles. Yeah for me!!! I just hope that I can keep it up. After that it was tanning bed time, bath, & here I am. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it was a good day for me. It was a rather relaxing day, a lot of driving with the radio up just singing to myself. Then walking in circles around a track, again by myself listening to more music. I hope that everyone enjoyed themselves today!

Yard work, the pool, & b-day parties.

I don't know about anyone else, but my weekends don't ever seem to last long enough. I always feel like we have so much to do on the weekends that there isn't a lot of time for relaxation. Of course most everything that I choose to do is exactly that, a choice, so I guess I can't complain too much. Friday after Chris and I got off of work we headed out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants (Los Postros in Blackwell.) Chris and I literally eat there at least once a week. We have been known to eat there twice in one day at times. Their Grande Cervesa with lime guts was the selling point for us, and the food isn't half bad either. Saturday was filled with yard work for me. Kendall bought a new 4-wheeler so the boys headed off to the dunes for the weekend and Chris went golfing. Yard work is a favorite of mine. I love planting things and watching them grow and I love, love, love to mow. Later that afternoon the Fosterville pool was officially opened! It is still way too cold for me, but we had a few little swimmers that just couldn't wait. Chad Cink was playing Mr. Mom for the day and brought his kids over to kill some time till Kristi made it back home. Chris even joined in the fun. That evening we headed to a 40th Birthday party for an old classmate of mine, Scott Taylor. We went to school together from the time I was in 4th grade until we Graduated High School and almost 30 years now here we are. I would like to say that we have aged gracefully! Ha Ha. I personally am not a fan of getting old, but I guess there is nothing I can do about that! I can only make the most of it and live life FULL. Sunday I did get a day of relaxation. The boys were still gone and Chris went golfing again so I just hung around and watched HGTV for most of the morning then headed outside to piddle in the yard. After Chris got home we grilled out an amazing dinner and that topped off our weekend. Now it's back to reality and the work week! I hope everyone has a blessed week.

My day with little Gracey May Keller

Me & My Gracey May!

Well today was a little weird. I woke up and got ready for work and when I got there I was not on the schedule. Oh well, I was able to come home and get some much needed housework done since I have been living on the couch with the flu bug since Sunday. So I spent most of the day at home by myself & the 3 dogs, of course. I got a call around 5:00 to see if I could fill in at the T-ball game. Rob, (my cousin, who is more like a brother) had to work late and Heidi (his wife & my friend) had to take her other daughter to a game in Kremlin. (Man I don't miss those days of running around with my head cut off.) So of course Aunt Yaw Yaw (that is what Rob's kids call me) will step in, I would LOVE to! Heidi dropped her off along with the team snacks and Gracey May and I headed off to the game. I must say that is has been awhile since I have been a T-ball mom! It was so cute watching the kids learn how to play ball. The main thing that most of them learned today was where 1st base was. It was a fun evening and very comical at times. After the game was over we came home and waited for Rob to pick up Gracey. While we waited of course we just can't sit and watch TV. We had to play restaurant. Too Cute! Oh and of course when that got old she had to start texting her cousins, with Uncle Chris's help. She loves to play with my phone. All in all a great end to a blah day.

Wet Wednesday!

Post #2! I was still not feeling well this morning so I stayed home from work. I have been battling some kind of bug. However I was able to keep all my food down today which is a big accomplishment considering what I have done the last 2 days.
Oklahoman's sure have had their fair share of extreme weather this spring and today has been no exception. As I am writing this blog, the Stillwater area has had a tornado go through there. I'm not sure how many tornado's Oklahoma has had today, but listening to the news it looks like it could be a long night. So far today Grant County has only received a lot of rain. Here are a few pictures that I took of the flooding in Medford area.

It's all New to Me!

This is my very first blog. I have followed several of my friends on their blogs and thought, what the heck! I'm not sure what, if anything I will write on here. Or even what I could say that is worth reading, but I like to journal and scrap book so I figured that I would enjoy this.
I guess with this being my first blog I will tell you a little about myself and my family. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Chris, for 21 years. He truly is my best friend. We honestly do everything together and very rarely do we even fight. I have three children, Kendra 21 years old, Kaleb 19 years old, and Kendall 17 years old.
Yes, if you look at Kendra age and look at how long Chris and I have been married you will see that I was pregnant with Kendra when we got married. I have been very fortunate that everything has worked out the way it has for me. I thank God daily that this family has been together for 21 years. I have many friends who have had children with someone and that someone wants nothing to do with being a parent. Chris is a great man and father.
Kendra is my only daughter and is a mirror image of me. I have so much fun with her. She always makes me laugh and is a very loyal daughter. Kendra starts dental assistant school in August of this year and I am so proud of her. Her life seems to be falling into place.
Kaleb is the middle child. That is one thing we have in common. He is a very talented young man. He is very artistic and athletic. He received a baseball scholarship when he graduated High School. The day we moved him into his dorm I knew that something was wrong. I asked him several times what it was and he said nothing. It lasted a few weeks and that 3 hour distance was just more than he could handle and he asked to come home. So he came home and got a full time job for the rest of the year, but is talking about college again. Time will tell.
Kendall is my Baby and always will be. He weighed 12 lbs 1.2 oz when he was born and because of that I think I have always babied him. Kendall graduated High School just this past weekend. I am so proud of him. Kendall was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 6 years ago. It has been a long hard struggle but it's nothing that we haven't been able to handle.
We have 2 dogs. Well actually 3. Our 2 dogs had puppies a few months ago and we can't seem to get rid of one of them. Hence the title of by page: Fosterville Population 8!
